The farm and village
Scenic accommodation & restaurant in a garden setting, with idyllic surroundings, just a stone’s throw from the ocean. We offer you to Stay, Eat and Experience, based on ecological principles, with consideration for the environment and our loved ones.
Stora Frö is a small idyllic village located on southern Öland, about 10 kilometers from the Öland Bridge, between Färjestaden and Mörbylånga. In Stora Frö you will find the Öland Herb Garden, the store offers a wide range of products for taste, health and harmony, about 60 different mixes of seasonings, homemade jellies and Herb-mustard. At walking distance you can reach the nature reserve and bird sanctuary Beijershamn.
The accommodation
B&B
If you are searching for that little extra, our cozy B&B, Villa Strandnära, is an excellent option. We call it the hostel’s “All Inclusive”. These rooms include linen, breakfast & cleaning. When you book your accommodation with us, please indicate that you wish B&B rooms. Then you will be welcomed by our made beds, sleep well on our white sheets, and wake up to a delicious organic breakfast and then, you can just leave the room well prepared for today’s adventures..
Hostel
Strandnära hostel rooms are located in a charming garden setting and hold separate beds and/or bunk beds. In every room there are hot and cold water, mirror, table and chair. Whatever type of accommodation you choose, you will always have access to kitchen and living room with fireplace, TV, sofas, magazines, games and dining areas.
Apartments
Strandnära small apartments are located in a charming garden setting and are about 20 sq m. They consist of two small rooms, one room with four beds and one room with a kitchenette, table and chairs. The kitchenette is equipped with four hotplates, fridge and a sink. Porcelain is for four people, as well as utensils. There is also a bathroom with shower.
Cabins
Strandnära cabins are located in a charming garden. There are four cabins with two separate beds and two cabins with two bunk beds. In all cabins there is a fridge, table and chairs, surface of 10 sq m.
The food
A charming summer restaurant, with a homely feeling in an idyllic garden setting. With us, you can enjoy delicious organic food and drinks in the glow of the sunset between the beach pines. Strandnära offers a carefully selected menu of dishes all produced with fresh, organic and locally produced ingredients
We serve organic wines, beer, cider & a genuine assortment of whiskey. We have a full wine list featuring red and white wines, sparkling and rosé – a unique organic beer & wine list designed especially for our dishes.
Strandnära is KRAV-certified, equals to (IFOAM standard of organic production)
Groups & Companies
For businesses and groups we create unique packages along with you. How about a guided tour by horse and cart on the “Alvar”, Chocolate, The, Coffee or schnapps tasting, Herb Garden Walks, Learn to grill with the right spices, hear the story behind the Öland horse – or maybe horse riding on our unique Öland horses.

Experiences
Outside the gate of Strandnära, Öland´s biking and hiking trails passes and a stone’s throw away from Strandnära the Kalmar strait with its shallow beach is located. Haga Park, a little further down the beach, is a paradise for windsurfing and kite surfing. At a certain part of the beach, it is also allowed for dogs to take a dip. If you are interested in golf, you should try one of Öland’s 11 golf courses, four of them are located within a radius of 40 km from Strandnära.
The village also offers crafters of all kinds, there is a herb garden, a delight for those who are interested in the aromas and flavours of life. For those who are interested in birds and birding watching we recommend the nature reserve of Beijershamn, which also offers good fishing. For scenic experiences, the world heritage “Alvaret” offers a unique mix of plant and animal life in a close distance from us.
