The Farm
A warm welcome to us at Eksgården, situated in Gårdby on Öland’s beautiful east coast and close to most of the things Öland has to offer: Borgholm, Färjestaden, Kalmar, golf courses, beautiful beaches, the countryside and a culture experiences within easy reach giving plenty of opportunities for you to choose what you wish to experience and to discover.
Here is everything for a happy and peaceful stay or a conference. The old Öland farm, together with other buildings, has been carefully restored and is disability friendly, a pleasant and relaxing environment for our guests.
Many of the buildings are old and some go as far back as to the 17th century. Eksgården is beautifully situated close to Gårdby Church on the road parallel to the east coast and where the forest meets the Alvar (The unique and typical moor of Öland) and where meadows spread out against the unbroken horizon of the Baltic Sea.
The Accommodation
You can choose between refurbished rooms in the old farm house, newer rooms in Ölandhuset built with very thick walls of Ölands famous limestone or in the old buildings, “Erikshuset” (Erik’s Cottage) or the “Grindstugan”(The Gate House) from the end of the 18th century. A large number of the 27 bedrooms are disability friendly and accessible, as are our beautiful reception rooms. Of course it is a non-smoking environment. Breakfast and other meals are served in the restaurant of the Inn.
The Inn
The Restaurant and Café is situated in the converted and refurbished barn and stables. We offer home cooking and gourmet meals as well as home baked cakes and pastries and salads.
When you visit the Inn, take the opportunity to see Nils Dacke’s boots.
Galleries and Craft
On Eksgården you will find a handicraft shop, which sells unique Swedish handicrafts. In addition there are three galleries on the farm, where, among others, local artists exhibit. The garden is the fourth gallery, here is often sculpture exhibitions staged. See the website for the exhibition program during the year.
Conference
We have conference facilities for up to 60 participants in our “Högsulelada” (old barn), in a relaxing, personal and unusual environment. Despite the ancient walls there are modern facilities with the latest techniques. And we have an excellent restaurant. Please contact for help and details.
